Our research focuses on interventions to improve coping with stress, reduce health risk behaviors, and enhance quality of life in underserved populations.
We are interested in how mindfulness-based interventions enhance emotion regulation and promote healthier behavior. We develop and evaluate digital health strategies (e.g., text messaging, apps) to increase access to mindfulness interventions for health promotion.
Mindfulness is "paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally" (Jon Kabat-Zinn). Mindfulness involves slowing down to focus on what's happening right here, right now.
